Grandma Happy Memory Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy (by 2415elcapitan)
Just as awesome as I remember it.
“So i hear dad’s dead. Is that eggnog?”
According to Dave, he and Scott wrote that scene in 10 minutes in the van on the way to the shoot, except they weren’t speaking to each other at the time. They wrote the scene, had someone go buy a harmonica, shot it, and went on not speaking to each other. It is Dave’s favorite scene in the film.

Spiraling Shape - They Might Be Giants
It’s going to snow here today. A few inches. Enough to coat the ground, cover the trees, and make a mess of the roads. I love driving in the snow. Alone, lost in the swirl of white, shuttling through the dark, enclosed in my capsule of a car, just me and the music. The music makes it better. Bearable. An adventure. I have a handful of favorite albums that always remind me of driving in snowstorms, and Factory Showroom is one of them.
This song is a great “lose yourself” song. It was featured in the Kids In The Hall movie Brain Candy. I love how it’s psychedelic, driving, swirling, the exact combination of elements that make me feel like I will survive a trek through a snowstorm. I know I’ll make it out the other side, hypnotized, maybe, but certain that the music kept me from the downward spiral of worry in my mind.
Could I have done it without the music as a crutch? Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man that he didn’t already have. What am I talking about? Am I still talking about snowstorms?
Love.

From the Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy soundtrack. Also look for a cameo from Veruca Salt at the end.
A bowl of steaming mussels interrupts his excited banter about these upcoming projects, and as soon as the dish is placed in front of him, he digs in. “I come here more than any other place,” he says of Café Stella, a cozy, casual French restaurant in Silver Lake. Surprisingly, it’s not baguettes and berets he’s reminded of, but the annihilation of all mankind.
I like the midnight movie they are showing.
